lol you think you're doing fine in gold and then some diamond wolverine just deletes you instantly. happened twice to me and my duo last night. ranked is definitely scuffed right now so we just swapped to quick play to mess around on hulk.
The matchmaker just gives up and throws anyone together. Gold players getting fed to diamonds is brutal, they just get farmed. Fast queue times do not matter if every match is an instant stomp.
Not touching ranked until they sort it. Free game doesn't mean my time is free, and getting farmed by diamonds for three games in a row is heaps dodgy. I'd rather wait longer for a fair queue than waste an hour getting stomped.
yeah it's completely busted right now. had the exact same thing happen last week and it just ruins competitive when the ranks are that far apart.
feels like the game just cares about fast queues instead of fair games. probably not enough people queueing at those ranks so it just dumps everyone together. honestly just stay out of ranked until they fix it.
tbh this is just how low-pop queue works. match quality tanks the second you're not peak hours.
@ciao_ragazziReminds me of old Quake matchmaking where you'd get thrown against a pro just because you pressed 'quick join' at 3am. Honestly the MMR system probably just isn't handling the rank bands properly right now. They'll patch it.

@ciao_ragazziThat is a fair point about low population, but three matches in a row is not just a quiet lobby. Diamond players punish mistakes that gold players do not even know they are making. I would rather sit in a queue and get a working match than waste twenty minutes of my evening.

I agree with Phil. It is frustrating because the skill gap at diamond is significantly wider than gold. The matchmaker should prioritize rank parity over queue time.
I play ranked to track my own progress and this kills that. Three straight games against diamond when I'm gold means the rank label means nothing. I'd rather wait ten minutes for a fair lobby than get demoted by a matchmaker coin flip. Not touching competitive until the rank bands stop overlapping.
I paid zero dollars for this and I still want a refund lol. Matchmaking like this makes me want to drop it until they actually patch things. There is no discount bin for a free game anyway so I'll just come back in a few months when the rank bands work properly.
