Sektori Review: Razor-Sharp Twin-Stick Action That Respects Your Inputs. Kimmo Lahtinen delivers a hyper-responsive twin-stick shooter where clean hitboxes and relentless techno drive an uncompromising test of raw skill.

Instant Response on the Sticks

The moment my thumb pushes the left stick, the ship moves without a hint of deadzone drag or acceleration delay. When you let go, it stops cold. Twin-stick shooters live or die on that immediate physical link, and this one nails it right out of the gate. There is zero drift, zero slush, and no weird float to fight against.

Hitbox detection works just as cleanly. You weave through incoming fire without getting hung up on phantom geometry. Too many top-down shooters put visual flair ahead of collision boundaries, giving hazards fuzzy edges that clip you when you looked clear. Here, if a projectile grazes your ship, you got sloppy. Slip between two neon shots by a sliver and the game lets you through. That kind of clarity makes every run feel honest.

Precision movement lets you thread tight gaps between neon projectile waves.

Five Worlds and Evolving Bosses

The campaign spans five distinct worlds with levels that rearrange their layouts on the fly. Waves do not rely on fixed pattern memorization. Enemy types swap in dynamically, forcing you to prioritize threats by reading the room rather than reciting a script. You get three baseline difficulty settings, culminating in the Revolution campaign mode when you want every room to push your reflexes to the edge.

Boss fights lean into this aggression with multi-stage evolutions. These massive targets change their movement cadence and blast trajectories as their health bars melt down. You cannot just circle-strafe the perimeter and hold fire. The arena forces you inside their firing arcs to punish recovery animations before they shift into their next phase. It feels more like fighting a vicious action-game boss than babysitting a bullet sponge.

Boss encounters evolve across multiple phases with dynamic attack patterns.

Decks, Alternate Ships, and Extra Modes

Between skirmishes, you shape your build through configurable upgrade decks and different chassis. Swapping to an alternate ship fundamentally tweaks your movement speed and baseline firepower, which changes how you handle tight corners. Upgrades stack without turning the screen into an unreadable mess of particle soup, keeping your eyes on the incoming hazards instead of fighting your own weapon effects.

When the five-world campaign is done, there are six extra modes waiting. Classic strips things back, while Gates and Assault turn up the pressure by demanding strict pathing under heavy fire. The interface and voice cues are entirely in English, which keeps menus straightforward and callouts easy to parse during high-speed runs. Chasing medals and specific run challenges gives the game genuine legs once you master the basics.

Configurable upgrade decks let you tailor your ship's offense between waves.

Hard Techno and Pure Speed

The visual design is aggressive and saturated, backed by heavy techno tracks that set a ferocious rhythm. You are constantly bombarded by bright neon flashes, to the point that the epilepsy warning on the store page is worth taking seriously. Yet through all the flashing colors, performance never hitched once on my PC. The framerate held flat even when the screen filled with splitters, homing mines, and shifting arena boundaries.

At fifteen dollars, Sektori does not waste a single second on filler or bloated narrative setup. It hands you a ship, tests your mechanical execution against hard-hitting waves, and lets your reflexes do the talking. Action games rarely deliver this kind of hitbox precision right out of the box.

I barely know 'er! But seriously, Sektori syncs the bullets with the techno so well I ended up grinning like an idiot. Fair deaths, clean dodge, good time.

no stress either way (the learning curve on revolution is real but i just play to unwind after work so i skipped it and had a good time honestly. my eyes did need a break after a little while though, that saturation is no joke, but it's part of what makes it hit hard so im not complaining. maybe one day i'll try it again (if my reflexes ever come back

Really solid how your dodges register instantly without weird input lag, feels like someone actually cared about response times. Visual saturation stays rough for long sessions though. Tight combat makes it worth it, so I'm hopping back on next weekend.

the bass drops hit crazy hard and when the whole screen gets super saturated mid boss fight i just watched the colors instead of dodging bullets. lost track of the wave patterns completely and honestly i couldn't even sleep after that

Retinas quitting halfway like everyone else, but the inputs stay clean enough to beat it. That's the Sektori sweet spot. Going back tomorrow.

Really solid combat loop, hope the devs keep at it. The way the dodge animation carries into the next shot is buttery smooth, and you can tell they put real work into the input response. Would love an option to tone down the screen flash for longer sessions, though. That's the only thing keeping me from marathoning it.

dude i died because i was staring at the colours instead of the bullets best mistake ever the music makes me feel like a cyborg and the way the whole screen becomes a disco of death is incredible im still blinking spots out but i dont care

Revolution difficulty isn't a mode, it's a preemptive funeral for my retinas. (I still clicked play again.)

possum_81Nov 22, 10:09 PM

My retinas quit halfway through the first boss, but the hitboxes are too clean to refund.

Gotta give them credit, every death feels like my own fault. The hitboxes are so clean that when you clip a projectile, you know exactly what you did wrong. My eyes hurt from the bright screen flashes after an hour, sure, but the input response is so fast that I kept restarting anyway. Definitely worth fifteen bucks if you like hard arcade games.

my eyes quit after one run. the controls are great and i'll probably be back tomorrow anyway.

@ola_ollieyo the sync between the bass drop and the wave ramp is unreal, my chat (all 4 of them) went crazy when i threaded through that first boss pattern. definitely run it with a good headset cause the sound design sells it harder than the review lets on. that screen flash had me squinting though ngl

am i bad at this or is the wave rng personally offended by me? my eyes are watering but i respect it. $14.99 for this much chaos feels like a gift

@oofthis. i streamed normal mode for a while and chat had mixed feelings on the screen flash but we ALL agreed the hitboxes are stupid clean. one dude clipped through a bullet by pure panic and it looked like a pro play. no frame drops on my end either. def gonna try revolution off stream lmao

dude this is the best thing ive ever seen the techno music alone makes me feel like a cyborg and the way the bullets fill the screen later is insane i kept dying because i was watching the colors instead of playing lmaoo

danny bNov 21, 07:05 PM

great job to the devs on this one, i played last night and my hands were shaking after a run. the hitboxes really are pixel perfect like the review says, i dodged stuff i had no business dodging. only thing is my eyes got tired fast with all the flashing but the warning in the review is there so im not surprised. (baby started crying mid wave, had to pause and hope i survived lol)

outofpaperagainNov 21, 05:29 PM

how do the waves decide what to throw at you, is it pure random? $14.99 feels like a steal for this, and will they add more modes later

mortarNov 21, 06:45 PM

@outofpaperagainReckon it's scripted with a random sprinkle, though I ain't cracked the code. Y'all are fixin to overlook the real problem though: that pause menu font looks like it was typeset on a 2005 forum. Game plays tight as a drum otherwise, I'll give it that.

hjt76Nov 21, 09:09 PM

@mortarY'all talkin bout fonts but i'm over here lookin at a screenshot I took mid-dodge, bullet clipped a corner my sprite wasn't even touchin. That screen flash does make my eyes water too. Rest of the game is slick though, can't deny it.

peter griffins kneeNov 22, 09:01 PM

@outofpaperagainReckon it's a seeded random generator with scripted beats, but the game doesn't tell you. Back in the day the manual would explain all that, with actual diagrams. Can't say about more modes, but at $14.99 you're getting plenty. Proper classic vibe that, reminds me of the good old days mate, though the screen flash is a bit much for my old eyes.
