Royal Smash! - Physics Puzzle

Royal Smash Review: Satisfying Cannon Shots Buried Under Commercials. A cheerful 3D physics demolition game offers breezy tactile destruction before relentless commercial breaks interrupt the fun.

Lining Up The Barrel

Royal Smash! puts a cannon in front of bright little stages made of towers, jars, and stone blocks. You line up your angle, set the power, and let fly to smash right into the targets.

The physics feel responsive right away. A solid strike against a load-bearing column causes the upper roofs to slide and crash into jars placed below, setting off tidy chain reactions that clear the target zone in seconds. Everything can be operated comfortably with a single thumb while standing near train doors, which suits my daily route very well.

The festival look is crisp and colorful. Structures shatter with clean tumbling motions, and the pieces clatter together without stalling the frame rate on my phone.

Plenty Of Ammo, Little Resistance

The stages do not demand much tactical thought. Most layouts give you more than enough shots to sweep the board, meaning you rarely risk failure even after a terrible misfire.

Instead of asking for careful trajectory calculations, the arenas usually tumble after one or two direct hits. That lightness makes for an easy way to unwind after work, but it also strips out the tension that good physics games rely on. You line up the barrel, fire into the largest cluster of stones, and watch the game solve itself.

There are hundreds of levels here. Because the difficulty remains so gentle across dozens of them, the layouts begin to blur together rather quickly.

The Commercial Bottleneck

The true trouble starts between rounds. Short video ads appear after almost every single clear, and many of them run for thirty seconds or push external social media apps.

Private DNS filters that quiet ads in other casual titles do not stop the interruptions here. You spend thirty seconds aiming and firing, followed immediately by thirty seconds waiting for a dismissal icon to pop up in the corner of your screen.

When an optional bonus ad fails to load properly, the stage occasionally restarts from scratch. That wastes whatever small progress you just made, turning a relaxing session into an exercise in patience.

Chasing Rewards That Are Not There

The store page user comments are filled with confused players who arrived expecting real cash payouts or third-party reward points. Mobile marketing for casual games often leans on those gimmicks, and it clearly leaves people feeling sour when no money ever arrives.

Royal Smash! is strictly an arcade diversion about knocking over blocks. Taken on its own terms, the physics model is pleasant, yet the constant sales pitches and inflated promises pull attention away from what little craft went into the destruction puzzles.

A game built around short stages needs to keep a brisk tempo. When the waiting time matches the playing time, the fun evaporates.

Earlier on, the game would hard-reset to the level select screen if you so much as checked a notification. The review mentions ad hiccups doing that, but switching apps used to wipe your stage completely. Worth noting if you haven't updated in a while.

Did the reviewer even play past the early stages? Calling chain reactions automatic is wild when later towers actually need careful shots at the foundation blocks to bring them down clean. The physics let you pull off some great tumbling collapses once you figure out where the weight sits. Mainstream reviews always act like easy controls mean zero depth. Giving a 5.2 to a breezy casual game with unlimited retries and instant cannon fire is crazy.

Honestly, knocking down a whole tower with a single well-aimed cannon ball feels great even if the puzzles are easy. You don't need brutal failure screens to have fun watching blocks crumble into neat 3D debris. The real issue is the ads breaking up the flow every couple of minutes. The destruction physics are super relaxing when you actually get to play, but having a forced video pop up right after a good shot totally kills the vibe.

I found the one-thumb control scheme quite agreeable during my morning commute on the 7:15 to Paddington. The physics feel weighty enough to be satisfying without demanding too much concentration before my first cup of tea. However, I do wish the advertisements were less frequent; they rather spoil the rhythm. A pleasant enough diversion for a rainy Tuesday all the same. Yours sincerely, Arthur

@Marcus D.Good morning. I must respectfully disagree with the assessment that difficulty is absent. On my Samsung Galaxy A54, some later stages require precise timing that casual players might struggle with. The advertisement frequency is indeed regrettable, though turning off personalized ads in the settings menu seemed to cut down on interruptions noticeably. A small mercy. Thank you for the review. 12 forced video ads. 3 banner ads bottom screen. 2 rewarded ads for extra ammo. first 20 minutes. uninstalled.

str_pure_06Oct 20, 07:02 PM

@JaydenCannon has zero cooldown and the physics feel completely floaty. Stacks clip right into each other before falling over. Chain reactions feel automatic because the hitboxes on the blocks are massive, so any tiny contact knocks the whole tower down. Zero skill expression. Aiming barely matters when you get tons of free ammo anyway. Casual garbage.

givemeaminuteOct 20, 07:17 PM

wait does this even have voice acting?? ✨ downloaded thinking there were actual characters talking between stages but it's literally just a cannon shooting blocks lol. the physics debris looks clean enough at least, gonna keep it for mindless demolition ~

andy_splitsOct 20, 08:02 PM

@givemeaminuteyou can spam cannon shots pretty fast if you tap right after impact to knock blocks before they settle. tried routing stages for fast clears, but the physics resets are too random when debris tumbles around. plus ad hiccups keep reloading the stage and killing runs. speedrun potential: basically zero.

Paying to remove ads permanently makes this way better. Best purchase I've made on a commute game all year. Puzzles are brain-off relaxation, exactly what I want between ranked matches. Whale food? Maybe. But my time's worth more than watching thirty-second video ads every minute.

@dks85reckon the ad removal is the only way to play this mate. no worries on the battery front either runs fine on my pixel 6a. just toggle personalized ads off in settings and you'll cut the video count down heaps. good for a quick arvo session.

mlc77Oct 30, 08:41 PM

@headingley_danmy reflexes are doing better than my patience for video ads which is saying something at my age. the ad removal purchase sounds like the only sensible move here. thanks for the tip on personalized ads daniel.

dks85Oct 30, 07:07 AM

the ad removal purchase is the only thing with any gameplay value here. rest is whale bait with zero progression impact 💰

dave_bOct 30, 07:14 AM

works offline? no forced server ping on launch? battery drain on pixel 7 pro?

GillianOct 30, 12:16 PM

@dave_bHi dave_b, the game does not need an always-on connection. It checks on launch, likely for ad content, but then seems to work offline. Battery drain on my test phone was moderate, comparable to other casual games. The ad hiccups can reset a stage if your connection is unstable. Hope this answers your questions.

KaiOct 30, 07:14 AM

wait NO gacha pulls at all?? 💀 tutorial gave me NOTHING just a boring cannon!! physics are MID but where are the ANIME WAIFUS?? runs ok on 4gb ram thx 🔥

JaydenOct 30, 11:50 AM

Forced video ads after almost every level, banner ads at the bottom, rewarded ads too. Uninstalled again.

Cereal KillerOct 30, 08:27 PM

downloaded this because the physics clips looked satisfying. first twenty levels are genuinely fun demolition therapy. then the ad wall hits and the difficulty flatlines completely. looked incredible until hour two. uninstalled before lunch.

saltineOct 30, 08:33 PM

physics are floaty garbage blocks clip through each other zero skill just spam cannon watch towers fall ads every thirty seconds save your money this is genuinely bad

pay to remove ads on a free physics puzzler. groundbreaking stuff really.
